« Galabé and Rum» Tour: 1-Hour Discovery Tour

The Payet & Rivière artisanal sugar refinery and distillery invites you to step inside for a unique immersion in the island’s sugar-making history and the production of Galabé, a local sweet made from pure cane juice with an intense and refined flavor.

Guided by enthusiasts, you’ll discover the secrets of an almost-forgotten, time-honored Galabé recipe, passed down from generation to generation. The tour will also take you through the steps involved in making Réunion’s very first estate rums, from the field to the bottle.

Press your own sugarcane juice using a traditional mill, explore the different stages of sugarcane processing, and watch the machinery in an open-air workshop overlooking the ocean. The tour ends on a high note with a generous tasting.

This “Discovery” tour is suitable for both children and adults.
